The history of Happy-Play is simple – in 1996 I,  (Rosemary), was made redundant when the holding company who owned the company I worked for went down.   

I had loved my job and was sad to be ‘dumped’, but I was, along with others who worked for another company also owned by the holding company.

After some thought and looking at various options available, I decided to set up my own company, working from home to keep overheads at the minimum.   A phone, fax machine (internet only just becoming established then), and a will to succeed – I went ahead and Happy-Play Promotions was born.

The first month, I never seemed to stop signing cheques – a bit daunting to say the least.    Using some of the contacts I had previously had in business, I went about trying to drum up business.    It was relatively easy – companies and agencies did not have the time to go searching for the most economic supplier of a certain item – they came to me, and I supplied them with costs, samples, delivery schedules etc.    I must have been quite good at it, as business flourished and the first year passed very swiftly.

Nowadays, there are sourcing companies, and finding that particular item is not so difficult – clients feel more able to go direct and sort out any problems which may come along.   

Happy-Play offers that certain something extra!     If you went into a High Street retail outlet and said you wished to purchase a particular item, but could it be a specific colour, could it have their own logo printed, embroidered etc. , and all to be delivered on a certain date – you would not get very far.   

Well, that is what I do – I like to assist my clients as much as possible, to make their lives easier, by sorting out artwork, finding the most economic route to obtaining their requirement, and meeting delivery targets.   If I cannot meet a delivery target, I will tell you – there are various ways of getting items more swiftly than quoted lead times, but if for whatever reason, this is not possible – you would be informed.
